In 1991 I flew up to Pond Inlet on the N tip of Baffin Island, hoping to do the Northwest Passage with Newbold Smith on Reindeer. My dad was also aboard.
While in Ottawa, awaiting my flight, I learned that hurricane Bob was about to make a possible direct hit on Maine. My sisters were away and there was no one to take care of our family boat, Majek. She was on her massive mooring, but that is exposed to the NW. I later learned that my neighbor cut the leather out of his work boots and wrapped it around the mooring as extra chafe gear, and also rowed out an extra anchor. Good friend, Tim
