Funny, here in Dana Point they won't let the Aux do it.

the coast guard says the liability is too great. I guess that means that boaters are too prone to hurting themselves shooting off flares.
They did that 3 years ago and more than 100 boaters showed up to practice shooting. It was a hit as everyone thought it was a good idea but the aux. took flack and they can no longer do it. That was after they got permission from the uscg. I guess someone complained and it was over.
