Hatches are like that.
In Response To: I did it with a Nicro vent in the prior boat ()
My hatches are almost perfectly level when closed, and they're an old design with a lip of aluminum all the way around, so that there's 1/16" of water that pods on it after every rain. So be really sure you've bedded your vent really liberally, so no standing water can get down through. Think - repairing the bottom of a fish tank.
