We turn our forward ones aft in really heavy wind driven rain or in really messy seaways.

Adding a vent to a hatch
I did it with a Nicro vent in the prior boat
Hatches are like that.
WHy not a battery model? Geez, they work well in my experience.
My solar vent works rather well...

Vent mounted hatch, day/night or passive works fine.

Yes, our forward one has shipped some water.
I agree that, when box below the dorade works, they're great...
I guess we're lucky in our design.
Not if they're designed right...
When conditions warrant, you really want to be able to seal a dorade completely...
