like Larry says below pipe insulation works well. We custom make these, we open the thimbles and attach them to a sling link and then lash them about 6 ft. out with pipe insulation and tape, the tape lasts a couple of season I usually retape. I rarely have any problems with wrap.

The pic shows a double without the pipe insulation, just imagine it around the two pennants for about 6 ft. from the two thimbles.....
