I know I did. We looked at a white Passport 37 while we were boat shopping in Annapolis. My husband almost refused to go look at our current boat, a dark hulled Passport 37 because we both thought the white version was a very "boring boat".
Luckily the Passport our broker wanted us to look at, a 1985 no-name Passport, was the darkest green, awlgrip green with black mixed in 1998 - despite the gorgeous photos, I had to wait until we won a Y Flyer (one design racing) Midwinter's championship before I could convince my husband to even go look at the "boring Passport", even tho it was dark dark green. When we actually saw it, both of us loved the dark hull and the boat.
Recently, I understand Awlgrip has added a dark, dark green. I asked our local "expert" about Alexseal -- we liked the way Chauncey - Jon's boat - turned out. But the local painter was less than enthusiastic, probably because he's had good luck over the years with awlgrip. Probably we'd go with the local expert since we won't be doing it ourselves.
Cheers! J
