If my failing memory serves me right, there are all kinds of nooks and crannies up the Elizabeth River where hoe could have tucked up the boat nicely (if he got thru the bridges).
We are about 75 miles north of Hampton Roads, and a bit inland, and I recall looking out the window at breakfast last Saturday and saying, "Heck, it's already beginning to blow." No way he was going to make it up the Bay with the wind blowing straight down it, not without McAllister or something painted on the smokestack!
