but I made the trip from Rockland to the CCC in late September in 2006 when we took our new boat south. It was our first overnight passage, just the Admiral and I, and I think we sailed most of the way. I do know that the wind got up to 28 knots at one point and we were kind of glad it was dark out so that we couldn't see the seas. But the Admiral handled it just fine and never even whimpered so I'm proud of her! (Being warm and dry at the wheel was a plus!) The next overnight was from Atlantic Highlands, NY to the Port of Refuge in the Delaware Bay entrance. Going direct really cuts down the time 'enroute' and the miseries are (hopefully) quickly forgotten or at lease 'justified' to enable a more leisurely cruise on the other end.
