I wouldn't want to close the coast of Maine after sunset for fear that I'd catch a pot warp I wasn't able to see because of the light conditions.
I guess you could heave to a distance offshore if you knew in advance where a safe area was (and assuming, of course, that conditions
were right for that tactic).

For next year, however, I'm contemplating the possibility of a straight shot from P-Town to Halifax or Lunenburg, NS. It sure would be quicker
and give me more time to spend in NS. OTOH, it would be a LONG haul and sleep management/fatigue is a big concern unless I shipped a
crewmember (in addition to the ship's cat) for the jump across.
