On our one design sailboat, an 18' scow called a Y Flyer, we have a white powder coated mast, boom and trailer. It's a new idea for the Y builder and we're one of two test boats. The boat is now 4 years old and the powder coating is holding up very well including on the trailer. They were aluminum extrusions and we're not sure what the prep was, but so far so good! Of course, keep in mind, this boat is in fresh water, rarely in saltwater. So obviously, it doesn't have the exposure that a cruising boat will have. The photo doesn't show it well, but David's racing the Beers Regatta in Atlanta with my son-in-law a couple weeks ago.
