We just bought a J/120 that is already on the hard in Annapolis. We won't be launching the boat until April. Thing is the boat had been for sale on the hard for 2 years. We did a sea trial last month and everything was fine. I'm quite sure none of the fluids in the engine have been changed in over 2 years. The impeller was replaced before the sea trial. I'm going to be visiting the boat in early December and I'm just wondering what I should or shouldn't do. Clearly before we start using the boat in April we will change all the fluids, belt, and filters, probably have the fuel polished too. Question, can or should I do any of those things in December instead of waiting until April? I have the time to do it in April and it could be a good use of my time then. Coolant? Belt? Seems like the timing isn't critical. I hesitate the change the oil or tranny fluid because I know it will really cold. I hesitate to change the fuel filter until the fuel is checked out.
Suggestions? Are there other things away from the engine I should be concerned about. I've never lived in a "winter" climate with a boat.
