The oil that's the bigest issues isn't in the pan -- it's on valves and cylinder walls.

The issue, as I recall, is the sulfur in the fuel which condenses out as sufuric acid. It's not the "dirt" per se.
We change-out the filters and oil in the late Fall -- then in the Spring, it's just start and go. ;^)
