I have dealt with John a lot and 2nd your opinion. I found a KISS manual online and it describes testing the diode. I do have the switch box. I think the problem was in the Xantrex controller. Apparently you can not hook up wind and solar to the box. I ran just the solar to the controller and the wind as a straight dump into the house bank and that seemed to solve the issues I was having.
