While having a fin keel and big control surfaces means you can drive the boat in reverse, it's not that bad NOT TO HAVE ANY PROP WALK. You can just line it up and drive it in. It's really a good thing, because you sould be able to drive out better when you need to by just going forward.
Our Pearson 35 didn't back that well, either. We used to pull it back into the slip nose first. Then we'd spring-out to go back out the narrow fairway. We got used to is and it really wasn't that big a deal.
Using prop walk to help is, I know can be part of a planned manouver and a good thing.
(Even our J/Boat which backs well has some prop walk before it starts to "bight" and drive back. I've used the "creep" a few times, myself).
As Tom says, you are really in pretty good position to use what you've learned. :^))).
(I know a number of people that haven't EVER taken the time to really go out and objectively see how their boat performs. I'm not talking about months, I'm talking about YEARS.)
