So I looked up my chances . . . and given my high cholesterol and low blood pressure, I stood a 1 in 10 chance of a heart attack in the next 10 years. 10% reduction in that made it a 1 in 11 chance . . . pretty small reduction given the stress of paying for Lipitor and worrying about its side effects. I modified my diet a little and my cholesterol came down some (or was that just two random readings that could just have easily been the other way around?).
Interesting stories in the news today (and in Scientific American recently) about scientists having a hard time repeating results in studies of all sorts, especially medical ones . . .
