I think boat prices have been averaging around 4 to 4.50 a pound. That's a far cry from 3 years ago when boat prices dropped to well below 3/ pound(as low as 2 dollars). Once you get to that range, you can't really pay your operating boat costs and still make a profit. That dip put a few out of business(which might have been a good thing)
And retailers have to add 1.5 or 2/ pound(as I'm sure you well know), unless they're big supermarkets running a loss leader to bring in customers. They have to eat too.
I figure our local store is adding the above so I expect to pay 6 to 7 a pound right now. Todds shop is a great deal, you could make good money reselling his @4.00 retail in this area for $6.50.
