happened once. we were at farmer's cay, Bahamas where
the bottom is very scoured. took a local mooring. it was fine in a blow for three days.
then, after an afternoon of many beers, wouldn't you know, we came back and the
boat was gone. sh*%&@. on the change of tide, it broke. fortunately, it was an incoming
tide. boat was in 5 ft of water about a mile away. with the 5 ft keel, no harm done.
it was less than a few hundred yards from a megayacht though. thankfuk for shalow water.
needless to say, I refused to pay for the mooring's usage.
