Well, that's true (with caveats)

One caveat is that you can buy the less expensive 06 model (which produces less water but is smaller and lighter). [I read 1 survival story,
though, where the survivor credited having the 35 with saving their lives.]

2nd caveat is that you can buy older models - but misleadingly labeled as 'new' (or 'new other') on Ebay for considerably less - but then
you'd have to pay for a new membrane, biocide, etc. By the time this is done, I think it's a lot less of a bargain than it might seem at
first blush.
