Our Husky learned to climb the ladder out, but I wouldn't let him jump down. We played a game of "One Step" where I would hold his harness and bring him down One Step At A Time. It worked quite well and he weighed about 60 pounds. As has already been mentioned dry food in no more than medium sized bags, figure about the heaviest you want to carry over your shoulder for a mile.
He spent 13 years cruising with us, until his hips gave out and he couldn't even sit down at home without having to slide his butt down a wall. We are starting anew with a rescued Husky puppy.
