Checking in and out of countries can be a drag
In Response To: Big dogs on board ()

Depending on where you're going, getting your pet in and out can be more of a hassle than anything else related to the animal. It cost almost 250.00 to get our cat out of Guatemala. It was easier to get it in but getting it out needed an export permit. Huh?? We had to get a vet to run the paperwork to all the government offices to get the stamps etc. We would have just left but then when you get to the next country (in this case Belize) we could have had bigger problems. Have all your pets shots and paperwork taken care of before you leave the states and just do what ever the books say is what to do in each country paying for the convenience.

For us there was always the backup plan if we didn't have the proper paperwork,,,, "How the hell did that cat get on board" (to the officials that come) and throw it overboard.
