Yes the whole guard comes off. You simply drill two 1" holes in your mount at 9.5" hole centers and slide it up from the bottom. Then position it where you want and sandwich it with the clamp collars.. Everything from Edson, Scanstrut, Nav-Pod etc. was either very expensive or very large and ugly..

The pedestal "table" for our rotating Nav-Pods was done the same way except it entirely replaced the pedestal guard top plate and became an instrument mounting platform and the new pedestal guard top plate.
