Around here there's a bigger range of heat, cold and humidity. It also rains much more frequently.

This image shows our typical summer setup. The bimini zips to the aft edge of the dodger, and provides nice relief from the sun and rain on the shady or lee side of the cockpit. We zip it off when the weather is cooler, and we can also zip on a full cockpit tent. The tent is never used under sail, but I do use it at anchor when prolonged rain is in the forecast.

That's me with the hat giving the thumbs-up. The Admiral is sheltered in the foreword seating position.
