We pass restaurants by lately if they don't offer any dishes without meat or dairy/cheese and minimal refined sugar or processed foods. For us it's not a moral issue -- just into a healthier eating style. Been doing it about 8 months. I don't miss the meat at all, but do miss cheese. I can live without it, but I take a nibble now and then, and still have a spot of milk in coffee. My blood chemistry values have changed dramatically for the better, and no meds. Total cholesterol went from 182 to 124. Triglycerides from 247 to 108
Some people say it's extreme to eat this way. Considering what's known today about diet, exercise and health, I disagree. I watched 4 overweight people at the next table tonight who all ordered red meat with fries and calamare... definitely THAT is "extreme eating"... Saturated fat, trans-fat, and a side order of cholesterol (hold the veggies). Why not finish it off with ice cream and cake? All the supplements and meds in the world can't make up for the cumulative damage of wrong choices "as a lifestyle".
Sorry for the rant. If anyone is interested in this, watch the documentary "Forks Over Knives" you can stream it on Amazon or Netflix. That video was very influential with me.
