Now I see what all the controversy was about....

How can a company claiming their products are designed for the marine market design such crap.

I have never owned a Yanmar. The three inboard diesels I have owned all drove their raw water pumps from a PTO, not a belt. The Perkins 4-108 modified the gear cover and drove the pump by a slot cut into one on the gears. My present Beta (Kubota) has a real PTO.

Anyone with a V drive (I'm thinking of Max) has a double headache. I can't imagine laying on an engine struggling with that design.

I can change an impeller in about 10 minutes and that is with a V drive. How long does it take to do one on this Yanmar?

This just adds to the other negative things things I have read about Yanmar. High priced parts, etc. There is a thread on SSCA right now about crappy engine instruments and a $1200 board that only lasts a few years.

My sympathies to those that are stuck with this nightmare.
