The lift operator runs the crane. I leave a hatch open and guide the mast in or out, from inside the head giving directions for up-down, forward-aft, etc. There's usually 2 riggers(one is a helper) and myself on deck that pull the pins after the cranes sling is against the spreaders. They know what they're doing, especially with caring for wooden spars like mine.
It takes less than 30 minutes(I do what you assumed pre-haul) from beginning until the mast is on horses but I'm not sure the exact cost. I think it's about 200. Hope this helps John.
