I lost a Volvo reduction gear during a fast freeze up. 
In Response To: I am going to drain the water tanks today... ()
By the time I got to the boat after a haulout on Lake Champlain in VT, a north wind blowing under and around the keel quickly froze the lower part, including the cooling collar around the reduction gear-and you know what happens next.... That was more than 20 years ago, but the price of a new one I remember well today!
