Perry sold it for me.
In Response To: You had a Freeport? ()

The Freeport Islander 36 was an early Perry design. When I decided to sell it I made a webpage and sent it to him. About 2 weeks later I received a call from an interested party in Northern California that wanted to purchase her. Not having listed her yet I asked where they heard about the boat. They said that they wanted a Freeport 36 and talked to Perry who told them to purchase mine. They did for full asking price. In return Bob said I owed him a bottle of good scotch. He got it.

Bob told me it was one of his favorite boats. He almost purchased one himself. Called it a very spirited boat with a fat belly and was surprised with it's performance. I'm sorry I sold it as I could have cruised on it and saved a ton of $$$. Na,,, I really liked the Gulfstar as well. I was talking to Bob quite a bit during the time I was looking to purchase a new boat and sent him some info on the Sailmaster 50. It was his recommendation that triggered the purchase. Said that the 80's Gulfstars were very good boats. If I was able to accept the limitations of a motor sailor and it was in good shape there's no reason not to go for it. She served us well. Looks a lot like the FI36 doesn't it?
