Gene -- the big issue is power loss. In general, no power = no heat. If you've got a functioning heating system you're golden. The second big issue is travel. If you don't get caught out and you're someplace you want to be, then it's a holiday. Even though many people can telecommute, it's understood that the pace slows down a bit and many things can be handled on "island time".
The fresh snow is beautiful, and no matter how many big-weather events we have it's always exciting and impressive to witness nature's power.
The coastal flooding is an issue for a small minority, and I pity the poor souls who are without heat or shelter, but for most of us it's a holiday.
