When I lived in the upper midwest (really the eastern part of the Midwest), you got used a bunch of snow, even blizzards, and (relatively speaking) VERY cold temperatures (for the rest of the world).
If you are hunkered down, with shelter and heat, then it's a different situation for most people in this storm; however, there are parts of the country where snow doesn't disappear for a while. In those cases, 30" is going to be there until into "Spring".
