While bigger, the boats you posted have some similarities not seen on Maine lobsterboats.
I asked this lobsterman in St Andrews if I could take his picture, "Oh Aye, pol" (translation; "oh sure pal" )
Their boats are half the size of Maine lobster boats, and full displacement hulls with very small engines. Their traps are smaller and have the old dome topped shape and they fish a much smaller number.
The bottom line though was, these Scottish fishermen were getting 3 times the boat price per pound of lobster as they were in Maine at that time(4 years ago), as I recall from our conversation.
