I had a Maxwell VWC1200 from 1995 until 2008. Replaced it with a VWC1500. Main reason for replacement was that the old one needed re-chrome and in New Zealand they had a fantastic sale on new. Sold the old one for 3/4 of the price of the new one.

I had a Lewmar 1000 before the Maxwell. Quality is far better with Maxwell. Lewmar was a true POS. Lewmar gear assemblies are unserviceable. Maxwell is reasonably priced for parts. I had to buy some parts for the old one due to salt water corrosion on the aluminium gear case. The new VWC1200 has replaced the old aluminium gear housing with very tough plastic and improved the installation flexibility with how the motor is positioned.
