IMO it was fraud. The 1000 was rated as 1000 lb. STATIC load and only 750 lb. pull. When do you find that out? When reading the fine print in the install manual after you buy the windlass. No where in their advertising was this mentioned. Add to that, after you strip the gears in their sealed gear assembly because it is too small you have to buy a new gear assembly, not just the stripped gear.

Since that fraud being perpatrated on me I have avoided buying Lewmar with only one exception.
