Ours is 15 years old now. We have lubed periodically (every couple of years) and painted the motor once because it lives in the anchor locker below.

The only issue was a voltage loss we had when it was first installed that robbed it of power. We have a run up and back of about 100'. While we can lift the anchor without running the engine, it really isn't a goo idea.
