I have a Hanse 371 used primarily for weekending and a once a year short vacation. Long term plans are to cruise the bahamas and parts of the carribean once I retire in five or six years.

Instrumentation on board at present includes a Simrad CP-34 chart plotter, an IS15 system with knot meter and depth, and a VHF (including AIS receiver display and remote mic). The IS15 display is now dead, out of production, and too expensive on the market for an obsolete bit of equipment.

I need a new depth sounder and knot meter. I would prefer to go with NMEA 2000 compliant replacement. Which manufacturers would you suggest? Also wish to add wind system - does that change the recommendation? Any other instruments you would suggest? Since I am supporting kids in college and saving for retirement, money is always an issue.
