Then you end up anchoring certain places just so you can get wifi

We did the Abicos, (yuck) last year and use the local wifi network purchasing wifi by the week. There are 2 services that have transmission towers in about 6 or 7 anchorages or towns. We ended up downloading their maps of wifi areas and started determining where we anchored by where wifi was. I guess it's not all that bad because the wifi is in places you would probably want to go anyway. The other part of it is that you will be selecting the spot to anchor based on getting as close as you can to the tower as with so many on the network if you have a fringe signal you'll get knocked off with a boat anchored closer. That puts a lot of vessels in one area of the anchorage for wifi. Finally, the wifi in the Bahamas is sporatic. Half the time it gives you grief and you spend a lot of time cursing your computer instead of having fun. (We have a 9db gain antenna and an Alpha 1/2 watt unit.)

The entire issue of getting wifi is a mixed bag. Do I really want to choose the anchorage just for wifi??????? We'd rather have the 710.
