With a good long distance WiFi antenna, a few open nodes, most of the info that you NEED from a SSB is increasingly available on the 'net'.
Even with passcode protected WiFi, a few $$ to buy a meal, etc. in exchange for WiFi access is usually economically acceptable in comparison to the full cost of a max-ed out SSB rig. .... only in the 'far' Bahamas and far 'out islands' does one need SSB, these days.
Of course SSB is useful, especially in those far and away places and when on passage .... but increasingly WiFi signal is becoming more available even in the 'remote' places. The 'hub' anchorages in the Bahamas now at the least have 'pay to play' and daily/monthly WiFi.
