Crank outhaul.
Once state of the art, a century refined. Then came Aluminum.
Magnificent! Totally in line with the Herreshoff history I'm reading
Bristol is a worthwhile destination

Full battens make a big difference
I remember reading how bad roller booms were, then I used mine.
Years ago we used a jawlike device for vang on roller boom
