Not all hours are created equally

Clearly once a season (if you have one, which you do, Neil).

On the number of engine hours as a test -- not all hours are equal. If you are starting and stopping the engine ofter, not letting the engine get to operating temperature, etc., then I think you should change oil much more frequently. I believe that most engine wear is from the start-up (unless your oil is filthy and you have other issues with the engine).
