Here in San Diego I could not get to my boat due to the back up of holiday traffic.
I was doing a delivery on the 6th and was leaving on the 5th and wanted to pick up some gear... no good. I happened to be down at one area of the waterfront at SDYC and saw how crazy it was down there, and had seen the same only an hour earlier in La Jolla... where there wasn't an inch of sand open anywhere... at 7:00 AM!
The streets were empty, unless you wanted to go near a beach or waterfront... and then, it was pure hell. By the time I tried to head to my boat, there was no way to get there.
Years past I have either planned to go to the boat early, and stay overnight. (quite fun) Or just avoid the water all together.
The ironic thing is that the highways at the waterfront exits were way backed up... somehow folks just imagined that there was "just one more spot" just for them.
Yup, holiday weekends at any waterfront are likely a zoo. It is not just a BI event.
