We headed to our cabin in the mountains instead of the boat this past July 4th. We are in the midst of a year long celebration called Perry 200, it is the 200th anniversary of Oliver Hazard Perry's vistory over the British Navy. Based on what I am told, that was the correct decision. Our club grounds were over run by members and guests, arguments ensued, traffic was absurd and we even have a brand new set of rules and club policy now because of the potential disister we avoided. We were lucky that no emergency vehicles needed to get in (they coudn't have anyhow) and no really seerious fights broke out. There was a documented instance of members physically moving a car that was locked to get another member out, but that didn't go as badly as it could either.
I guess we'll see how the new non-guest friendly parking works out this coming weekend with our annual family picnic. All guests must park outside the club grounds, no big deal except this weekend is another huge event called beer on the bay which uses the same parking area. I predict nothing good will come of this...........
