Made my lazy jacks up using two small cheek blocks on the mast, four brass rings, and 1/4" double braid. Way way cheaper and works better than the commercial systems I've worked with. Stow them at the mast when not dropping the sail so no problems with fouling the battens when hoisting. Boats I've sailed on that keep the lazy jacks in place were a royal pain to hoist the sail. Was out on a tri this past week end with permanently in place lazy jacks. Had to drop the sail three times before we got all the battens clear. Used the drawing on the graph paper at this site for the design:http://www.pearson35.com/projects/lazy_jacks.htm
No experience with the Dutchman system except seeing a few systems that were missing the mono filament so were useless. Might have been because UV ate the monofilament.
