I agree, but leaving from Charleston or Savannah is a little different.

If I follow the usual advice that would put me a couple hundred miles offshore for a few days. SE across the Stream until around 78 or 77 deg, then south. Still maybe close enough for helicopter rescue, but it has to be near the limit. If I were crossing from Miami or Ft Lauderdale, I wouldn't think twice about it.
