unless you're sitting in Marsh Harbour or Georgetown all winter, and even then, not as well as you are accustomed to. Unless you want to bother with a BaTelCo cell phone (which isn't a bad idea if you get that to sync with your internet via a SIM Card and then you can have pretty good WiFi in many places > that's probably worth a stop in Nassau to get that set up and figured out), don't plan on your cell phone working, at least not inexpensively. The weather on the VHF at Marsh Harbour morning reports is good. In Georgetown, you will get another cruiser volunteering in the morning and relaying / hi-lighting Chris Parker's information with the morning news, but if you have an SSB, you'll be able to get in-depth info from Chris earlier, he starts at 6:30AM. But only in the morning, and not on Sunday. So, if you're sitting in the Jumentos, Crookeds, Conception or most any another place in the Bahamas where we like to be, and you don't have an SSB for Parker or GRIBS, good luck getting weather info. If you can get any weather from the VHF, for instance from Highborne Cay in the morning, that weather will be NOAA relayed from Nassau, and I have found that not to be a very good source of weather information, at least not very thorough. I find the Barometer helpful all during the day, and as a compliment when close to good reports, everything could be fine in the morning, but changes in the afternoon are nice to be prepared for overnight. And as mentioned, a pretty accurate predictor of hard squalls when you're in the middle of nowhere.
I see you are in Vero. Say hello to Don & Gloria on Zaftra, a Westsail 32 at the dock ... Don will be an excellent source of info how & where to get that generator looked at if you want to do that before getting to Stuart. You could also try ACE Marine, formerly Helseth at (772) 564-7070, not sure if they can help you ?
Cheers, John
