At first, I thought they looked too low, about 4-5" above the cushions, to be effective. And while the ones for the pilots close up the lowered opening making the curb full length on pilot berths, they only afford a lee board in the center 3' of the lower settees.
In use though, they're quite effective even on the settees. That center area holds your torso still which has worked well for how little we need seaberths and they make entry-exit from the berths, do-able.
Mostly, I like that they stow below(1/4" ply I think, through bolted hinges) and don't need rigging. Pick up the cushion-stand the board up, done.
They're biggest use with the pilots is to hold gear securely so the lee boards get stood up often for that.
