Ours are similar -- execpt for the line connections.

DDW - ours are similar (I think that a few inches is nice for holding you in on the lee side (assuming that the boat stays reasonably positioned) but not really adequate if you get in some rough stuff that you'd need the clothes for.

We have snap hooks with braided line that atached nearer the top of the lee cloth so the occupant can get out easily on that dark and stormy.

ALSO- if you make the lines horizontal from the lee cloth to the ceiling or bulkhead, then you will significantly increase the load on the line from any weight.

We used simple attachments -- if you use a Whichard folding padeye, with horizontal lines, you'll have to have significant back-up plates (in my opinion) to take someone 180-200+ pound person when the boat is thown around. If you mount the connection to a vertical bulhead with an 75-90 degree angle, you're taking the load in line and not pulling the fitting out of the wall (as much). (Remember you vectors from physics or mechanics ;^)))) ).

By the way, Charlie. Your photo of your interior is so clean and neat!!!! Just like I'd imagine it from your posts ;^)))
