I have one of the units you picture, they're very nice... But I scored a good deal on eBay years ago, I'd have a tough time justifying that cost nowadays...

No reason you can't configure your own setup, and on many boats finding the space for that side by side unit might be difficult anyway... But I'm inclined to agree with Max, if I were starting from scratch today, I'd probably spend my money on a single 500, and add a fuel polishing setup, instead... (I actually use a larger 900 for polishing, because of the higher flow rate, but a 500 will work fine)

Seems pretty easy to find Racors on eBay, if you're patient, you should be able to find what you want for considerably less than the prices you've quoted...
