On my survey I don't have any heat shielded Racors and the surveyor said nothing and there is nothing in the report about it. They all sit about 3' from the engine; one maybe a little less or a little more. It is a diesel engine and there is a generator near by that sits higher and closer. I've known other boat recently to be surveyed and no one mentioned that their filter needed to be heat shielded. What about the primary fuel filter on the engine? How is it shielded? Me thinks maybe the surveyors you discuss bought their licenses on the internet. Just my 2 cents.
