Tom, I think if I read his report correctly, the boat didn't sink right away.

If it really lost the front 1/3rd of the boat (like it had been snipped off) and the rig cam down, the boat would have flipped-over and sunk. I think the words, to the effect "broke in two" doesn't mean what both of us thought when we first read the report.
