Coupled with a LifeTag System Warning, it would definitely increase chances of being found.

Best idea is to stay on the boat. Wearing a PFD and some type of portable communications would also have improved that MOB's rescue chances greatly. A PLB or even hand-held VHF would have gotten him rescued a lot sooner.

Being a coastal sailor, I decided on a hand-held VHF with DSC and built-in GPS. I think it's more likely to result in quick response, plus it would (hopefully) enable me to talk my wife through rescuing me without outside help, if needed. I clip it to my PFD belt when I leave the cockpit.
