What do the pins get threaded into? Obviously if the system has worked, you are just replicating it.
Are you sure it's delrin? The threading into that would seem to bit thin, if you're really pounding it. Do you have a stearing quadrant or a tiller? Why not a simple piece of stainless steel if you're threading bolts into it. I'd think one would have a neoprene sleave on the bolts to spread the load and avoid an unnecessary "clunk" when to hit them.
If you have room, moving the radius of the stops out reduces the shear and bending on the system -- if you're concerned?
